Website & systems audit

A focused audit of your site and the setup around it – so you know what to fix first (and what not to waste time on).

Tell me what’s not working.

After intake, I’ll confirm scope + delivery date with you. Then I’ll send the invoice and we’ll get started.

What the audit is

I review your website and the systems around it – structure, performance, accessibility, and the workflows that make enquiries happen (or fail). You’ll see what’s fragile, what it’s costing you, and what to fix first.

This helps when

your website feels fragile, confusing, or hard to maintain

you’ve been burned by an agency, freelancer, or messy DIY build

your tools don’t play nicely (forms, booking, CRM, analytics…)

you want clear priorities, not vague advice

Not the right move when

If that’s you, I’ll still help you find the next step.

quick DIY fixes, social-only marketing, or SEO retainers that ignore the site itself

If you’re e-commerce: if the issue is checkout, integrations, or a fragile theme/plugin stack, a rebuild can make sense – tell me what platform you’re on and what’s breaking.

What I check

so you’re not guessing

Structure & UX: user paths, navigation/IA, page hierarchy, and where people drop or get stuck.

Build quality + maintainability: theme/component consistency, template sprawl, plugin debt, update risk, and what breaks when you change or add anything.

Accessibility: semantic HTML, headings/labels, keyboard navigation, focus states, contrast, and form error handling.

Privacy + compliance: cookies/consent behaviour, embedded third-party scripts, form data handling, and where data is sent (including AI-related services).

Performance: Core Web Vitals and real bottlenecks (render-blocking assets, heavy scripts, images/fonts, and layout shifts) – then the fixes that will have the biggest impact first.

Conversion flow + tracking: forms + booking handoffs, notifications, event tracking coverage, and whether analytics data can be trusted.

Workflow friction: where the site fights your process (CRM/email/scheduling/internal tools), plus broken automations and manual workarounds.

AI + data exposure

I map what data your site collects and where it goes (forms, embeds, scripts, integrations). Then I flag avoidable exposure – and what to tighten first.

How it works

1. Book + intake

You book the audit and answer a few questions so I know where to look first.

2. Access + review

You share access (or a staging link if you prefer). I review the site, the handoffs, and the setup behind it (forms, booking, tracking, integrations).

3. Delivery + walkthrough

You get the summary, priority roadmap, and fix list – then we talk it through on a 60–90 min call.

No access yet? Tell me what you have – I’ll work with it and tell you what’s missing.

You’ll need: site URL + what feels off + access (login details + any relevant integrations).

FAQ

If your question isn’t here, send it over – I’m happy to answer.

Getting started

What do you need from me to start?

A URL, what feels “off” (in plain English is fine), and access (or a staging link).

If you can, include a quick note on how enquiries should happen – it helps me map the path faster.

What access do you need?

It depends on your setup. For WordPress, ideally an admin (or a temporary user) + a list of key integrations.

For custom sites, I’ll ask for the most minimal access that still lets me confirm causes – often staging + read-only access/logs, or a temporary account.

If you’re unsure, tell me what you have – I’ll translate it into what I need.

Can you do this without admin access?

Sometimes, yes – but it changes what I can confirm.

Without access I can still review structure, UX, performance symptoms, and obvious issues.

With access, I can verify causes (and give you a much cleaner fix list).

If needed, I’m happy to sign an NDA before you share access or sensitive details.

What if I don’t have a staging site?

No problem. I can work on the live site using read-only checks where possible, and I’ll tell you if anything would be safer to validate on staging.

If you do have staging, great – it usually speeds things up.

Your setup

What if I’m not on WordPress?

That’s fine. I work with WordPress and custom setups.
For custom builds, I’ll suggest the safest, simplest access option for your stack – usually a staging link, a temporary account, or read-only access where possible. If you’re not sure what to provide, tell me what you have and I’ll guide you.

What counts as “one site”?

One site – one domain and its current setup (templates, forms/booking, tracking, key integrations).

If it’s a multi-site network, multiple domains, or a complex e-commerce setup, tell me upfront – I’ll confirm scope before invoicing.

Privacy + data

How do you handle confidentiality?

I treat client access and data as confidential by default. I don’t share your materials with anyone for marketing, and I keep everything scoped to what’s necessary for the audit.

If something requires a third-party service (scheduling / email / performance checks), I’ll keep it minimal and transparent.

How do you handle GDPR and sensitive data?

I look at cookies/consent behaviour, form data handling, embeds/scripts, and where data is being sent – and I’ll flag avoidable exposure and quick wins.

For access, I prefer least-privilege credentials (temporary user / staging / restricted access). I don’t need – or want – access to anything unrelated.

Do you use AI tools with my data?

I don’t use your private materials to train any models.

If you want a “no AI tools” audit, say so – I’ll keep the workflow strictly manual.

(Some performance tools process a URL to generate results; if your site is gated or contains sensitive content, we’ll handle that via staging or a safe alternative.)

Timeline

How long does it take?

Typical turnaround is 3–5 working days from intake (once access + context are in).

If you’re in a rush, tell me – if I can move it up, I will.

Will you record the walkthrough?

Only if you want. The walkthrough can be a live call, a recording, or both – your choice.

After the audit

What if I’m not sure this is worth doing?

Request it anyway. I’ll look at what’s going on and tell you if the audit is the right move – or if there’s a simpler next step.

(If it’s clearly the wrong approach, I’ll say so before you pay.)

Will you implement the fixes?

If you want me to, yes. If you don’t, you still get a clear plan you can hand to your team.

If I implement, 100% of the audit fee is credited toward that work.

Choose a clear starting point.
